Out of the Box Counseling, LLC is a counseling company is operated by myself, Shauna Markowski, MA, NCC, LPC. I specialize in children and adolescents in talk and play therapy. Talk therapy follows traditional counseling styles. Play therapy is a treatment style designed to tap into the natural communication style of younger populations.
I have experience in school district and private practice settings working with individuals, couples, families, and groups of all ages. Specality areas include ADHD, anger management, anxiety, behavioral issues, coping skills, depression, family conflict, grief, life coaching, parenting, peer relationships, and self esteem.

Emma Lee Broady Academy
Emma Lee Broady Academy is a virtual school. Broady offers an opportunity for anyone to receive their high school diploma, no matter their age. Broady offers a unique service to the community because the courses are all offered online and are taken at the pace of the student. There are teachers, virtual message boards, email, phone, and hours to physically come in to obtain any help that may be needed.
Stepping Forward Christian Counseling has partnered with Emma Lee Broady Academy to offer counseling services to students and families.

Horses Healing Hearts
Horses Healing Hearts is a unique type of therapy called EAGALA. This is a type of therapy that integrates interactions with an Equine Specialist, a Mental Health Professional, and horses as an added layer to the counseling process. Some skills this process helps improve on include non-verbal communication, assertiveness, creative thinking, problem solving, leadership, taking responsibility, confidence, attitude, team work, and relationships.
Abiding Hope Institute of Christian Counseling
Abiding Hope Institute of Christian Counseling(AHICC) is an organization that utilizes students who are referred to as counselors-in-training. These are students who are on the track to finishing their Master's degree. All core classes have been completed and now they are required to obtain at least 300 hours of supervised counseling time. That means that they meet weekly with a supervisor at the university they attend as well as with a supervisor at the location they are working at. More information about this program can be found at:
Abiding Hope Christian Counseling
Abiding Hope Christian Counseling (AHCC) is our sister entity that provides services similar to what is offered at Stepping Forward Christian Counseling. AHCC utilizes the services of interns who have graduated from an accredited university, passed all required testing from the state board, and who are now completing the 3,000 additional hours required to become independently licensed. All LPC-Interns are required to meet weekly for supervision with a board approved supervisor. More detailed information can be found on AHCC's website:
